The Pisa Group is a nationwide telemarketing company working exclusively in newspaper subscription sales and inbound customer service.
In 1989, The Pisa Group, Inc. was founded with seven part-time telemarketers and one newspaper account. Today, our company has now grown to serve more than 60 newspaper clients throughout the United States. In 2009, we expanded our newspaper telemarketing services to include inbound call centers offering inbound customer care for clients who have the desire to outsource to a domestic partner with a comprehensive understanding of the newspaper business.
Today, The Pisa Group is comprised of 7 full-time call centers. One of the call centers is an exclusive, state of the art inbound call center offering dedicated customer service support for incoming calls from customers and potential customers. The other call centers house our telemarketers, including a dedicated retention center, who can conduct outbound telemarketing services and marketing campaigns as well as provide customer service. Our corporate headquarters and our 6 call blended centers are located in St. Louis, Missouri. The inbound call center is located in Dallas, Texas.

John Pisa is a native of New Jersey and has been involved in telemarketing sales for over 35 years. His baptism into newspaper sales started in May of 1976 working as a telemarketer for Levis Sales. John quickly rose through the ranks and in the fall of 1976, he was awarded his first management position in Cranford NJ representing the Elizabeth Daily Journal.
From 1976 to 1980, John oversaw a number of newspaper accounts in the tri-state area of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. In the fall of 1980, the company transferred John to St. Louis, Missouri to manage the call center for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. In 1982, John was promoted to vice president and for the next 7 years oversaw operations and nationwide expansion as the number 2 man in the organization. He helped take the company from a small regional telemarketing company to the newspaper industry's largest outsourced provider of subscription sales. In 1989, John founded The Pisa Group. The company started with one newspaper account and 7 part time telemarketers. Today, The Pisa Group employs over 300 inbound call center representatives and telemarketers in 7 call centers, while representing over 50 newspapers nationwide.
Mike Maggio started with The Pisa Group in 1991 and has been a mainstay every since. Mike along with Jeri Kirkbride is part of the “One Two Punch” of The Pisa Group operations. After spending time on the phones as a telemarketer, Mike swiftly moved up to Call Center Manager and consistently out performed all other managers. As The Pisa Group expanded, it was determined that Mike’s best assets were in the areas of Call Center Operations. As Executive VP of Operations, Mike works with each newspaper account and call center manager individually on production goals, territory maintenance, and data management.
Jeri Kirkbride joined The Pisa Group family early in 1989 after spending time in the military and working in telemarketing. As in the case with everyone in the organization, Jeri started at the bottom as a telemarketer serving the St. Louis Sun and worked her way up the ladder doing verification, handling charge backs, shift supervising, and ultimately Call Center Manager. As the company grew, Jeri took on more of an administration role that has led her to her current position as Vice President. Jeri is fondly referred to as “The Mother Hen” of the Pisa Group, as she is the point person on all new accounts and administrator for Pisa Group employees.
